STEPHEN SHORE // PHAIDON CORNER- MAY 2010
As part of the Phaidon corner, Artazart and Phaidon had the pleasure of hosting an exceptional meeting with one of the most influential American photographers of the 1970s, Stephen Shore! Born in New York City in 1947, Stephen Shore was a frequent visitor to Andy Warhol's Factory from the age of 17, photographing the artist and his entourage. At the age of 23, he became the first photographer to be honored with a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Since then, his photographs have been shown in numerous museums around the world. A pioneer in his field, Stephen Shore has influenced generations of photographers. In 1982, he was appointed director of the photography program at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
