International artist Sophie Calle makes words and images work together in a stunning book, "Because...".

Through her new book, she seeks to express the reason why she pressed the shutter and to reflect on the influence that words can have on our reception of photography.

His photos, which are represented as paper prints, are hidden in the folds of a Japanese-style binding: each page is thus a surprise pocket. You must first read the text before taking the picture out of its hiding place. This one systematically beginning with "because" gives to the work a playful and often surprising resonance.

For the reissue of her book at Editions Xavier Barral, the artist will be present at Artazart on Friday, May 17 (from 6 to 8 pm) to discuss with visitors and sign this artistic and poetic work.
