MEETING - SIGNING SESSION WITH PHILIPPE KATERINE - "MIGNONISME" - THURSDAY 31 MARCH FROM 6 TO 8 PM
"Of course there is melting ice, decay, betrayal, agony. Of course there is death.
But cuteness is there, at hand, to ward off fate and approach these uncertain shores more calmly.
Cute is there to make the worst bearable. Just open your eyes: there is always something cute somewhere. It's a question of optics.
One could see Philippe Katerine as an easy pencil sketch, the kind you could do on the phone while listening to an old aunt who talks a bit too much. This would be a big mistake, because Philippe Katerine does not give himself a book like a child using his charm, in this case his fame.
The well-known actor, director, singer and composer (César in 2019) is also a sculptor and draughtsman. Since his early youth, when he studied plastic arts, he has liked to draw everyday life and to ask himself humorous questions about the great questions of life.
A confinement in the countryside allowed him to develop "Mignonism", a cute artistic movement born on the border of Dadaism and Surrealism, with the help of sketches, compositions, salt dough sculptures and cut-outs.
You can discover him at Le Bon Marché until April 24th and with his book published by Hélium, ad vitam æternam...
