Nature has always held a special place in the history of art, and contemporary artists are also appropriating this theme. Art can no longer remain outside the major issues of our time. As a result, many artists are taking up ecological issues, nature-related themes and, more broadly, a living approach to their practice. Sculpture, photography, textile art, printmaking, drawing and even digital art: all plastic disciplines are concerned by these embodied and poetic creations. Themes such as hybridization, biomimicry, eco-design and metamorphosis inhabit these works and question our times. Valérie Belmokhtar went to meet men and women from all five continents, for whom art is a way of reconnecting with living beings and celebrating their diversity and resilience. She shares with us their hopes and the richness of their practices, which respond to each other and open up inspiring perspectives.
