On this voyage through the world’s seas and oceans, readers will land on shores that are all different, but which have one thing in common: they belong to island territories. Mythological, paradisiacal, sunken, desolate, volcanic, deserted, overpopulated… from Atlantis to Ithaca, from Ouessant to Easter Island, from Borneo to Socotra, from the Marquesas to the Faroes, this island “atlas” questions our fascination with the desert island: what would we take with us? What do we need to live? There’s no right or wrong answer: everyone approaches the island with their own personal history and a greater or lesser desire for isolation.
Legends and encyclopedic elements blend happily and poetically in this singular journey.

Clément Thoby

Cément Thoby is just 29 years old, yet he’s already a virtuoso with grease pencil, colored pencil and oil pastel…

After studying animation at EMCA in Angoulême, he went on to work on major animation productions, but above all enjoys immortalizing the landscapes and wild compositions he discovers on his travels.

Fascinated by the light, shadows and textures of trees, he initially follows in his own footsteps, even though Félix Valloton and the Japanese Kazuo Oga, DA of Studio Ghibli films, inspire him in his art.

With his striking colors, closer to impressionist painting than illustration, he likes to create a path to the unknown, a mysterious, peaceful and timeless atmosphere that makes you want to go there.
