Founded in 2017 by Lee SHULMAN, The Anonymous Project is one of the largest private collections of amateur color photographs from the 20th century. Often funny, surprising and touching, these intimate archives tell the story of our lives and form an intense representation of our times. This artistic project seeks to give meaning to these forgotten memories, offering new ways of interpreting and telling stories that question our place in the contemporary world.
Today, The Anonymous Project is releasing its latest project, Horizons, an original leporello in which photographs of strangers form an infinite line: a pretty way of showing that all our horizons can cross one day…
” (…) I often picture myself sitting on a train, my face glued to the window, contemplating the landscape as it passes by like a long ribbon. I’m hypnotized by the horizon, that undulating line that structures the elements of an ever-changing scenery. (…) The horizons in this selection could symbolize the backdrop against which our lives unfold. The thread stretching between what we were and what we will be. A subtle, friendly way of reminding us that our roads all travel in the same direction on the trajectory of our lives. “
