Cément Thoby is only 29 years old and yet he is already a virtuoso of coloured pencil and wax pastel...

After studying animation at the EMCA in Angoulême, he worked on large animation productions for five years before devoting himself to illustration. He likes above all to immortalise the landscapes and wild compositions he discovers during his travels, whether they are real or imaginary. Fascinated by the light, shadows and textures of trees, he first follows his own steps even if Félix Vallotton and the Japanese Kazuo Oga, historical DA of the Studio Ghibli films, inspire him in his art.

With his striking colours, closer to impressionist painting than to illustration, he likes people to inhabit his landscapes, which become "an invitation to the unknown, to a mysterious, peaceful and timeless atmosphere.
