An intimate, Hitchcockian detective story inspired by the Nouvelle Vague, “La dernière rose de l’été” revisits the atmospheric story with refined grace. A polished aesthetic, hypnotic colors and a singular gift for establishing mysterious atmospheres: there’s no doubt this is the new Harari!
It’s summertime and Léo, a young Parisian dreamer with hopes of becoming a writer, is working in a laundromat until he finds the inspiration for his great work. One evening, he runs into a cousin who offers to look after his vacation home by the sea. As fate would have it, a few days later, the shy Léo finds himself living next door to rich yachtsmen with vintage cars and architect-designed villas.
However, despite the light, surreal atmosphere, something isn’t quite right. Young men are disappearing in the vicinity, and tension is mounting… It’s in this strange setting, and while Inspector Beloeil leads the investigation, that Léo meets his young neighbor, a wild and capricious teenager: the beautiful Rose.
Lucas Harrari was born in Paris in 1990, where he still lives. After a brief stint in architecture, he studied printed images at the Arts Décoratifs de Paris, graduating in 2015. Aware of traditional print techniques, he began by publishing a few small fanzines on his own, before working as a comic strip author and illustrator for publishing and the press. L’Aimant is his first published comic strip.
