THE FAUSSAIRE - jean lébédeff

This book was born from a meeting. Patrick Marsaud was contacted in mid-November by the publisher Michel Lagarde, who proposed him to write the text of a collection of illustrations by Jean Lébédeff, which he had acquired at an auction, 4 years ago. Jean Lébédeff is considered one of the most important wood engravers of the last century. These drawings show views of a book " Le Vieux Paris ", which Lébédeff was preparing at the end of the 1930s, and which never saw the light of day. All the characters in the book existed. Some of them actually met. The rest were born in the author's imagination. Paris is of course at the heart of this story. A Paris of 1936, with old cafés, old buses, craftsmen, disappeared buildings, and the Halles of course. " Le Faussaire " includes 35 color illustrations of Paris, some sketches from a preparatory notebook, and several other drawings.
