LES CABANES DE NYLSO - NYSLO

A tree house, a mountain chalet, a seaside hut, a cliff-top shack, a thatched cottage deep in the woods… So many modest, isolated shelters that invite the walker to take refuge and meditate. A bit like when, as children, we were looking for a place of our own to dream, far from the adult world. Alongside his comics practice, Nylso keeps a notebook in which he spontaneously draws landscapes on a daily basis. Guided by his rotring, he covers the paper with small strokes that gradually form a meadow, a clearing, a forest. And in each of his improvised settings, there’s a path leading to a cabin. Sometimes these cabins look completely abandoned, and other times they seem to have been left behind shortly before our arrival.

With this series, Nylso continues the experiment of her book CABANES published in 2016 by Editions Michel Lagarde and deploys her fascinating drawing technique where the accumulation of fine crosshatching leads to plays of light and movement that reveal both the strength and serenity of this drawn nature.
