This illustration is taken from the graphic novel L’âme des grappes bleues (ed. Panthera). Pauline Dupin-Aymard’s pen and Clara Debray’s pastels tell the story of a meeting with winemaker Muriel Zoldan, who created the Antocyâme estate near Montauban.

Painter and illustrator Clara Debray was born among the peaks. The sense of belonging to the alpine environment in which she grew up has never left her. Today, she devotes much of her work to conveying her love of nature, drawing landscapes and bodies that bear witness to the emotions she feels in the face of immensity.

In her work, Clara Debray lets herself be guided by the living. She finds pleasure in the materials of oil paint and pastels, and her palette is made up of the colors of dawn – colors of emotion, which forget reason to give way to intuition and feeling.

Clara Debray

Clara Debray is a young French author and illustrator. She grew up in a small village in the Chartreuse region of the Alps and moved to Paris for her studies. After graduating in textile design from the Duperré school in 2016, she entered the Paris School of Decorative Arts, graduating in 2020.

The sense of belonging to the environment in which she grew up has never left her. She now lives in Annecy and devotes much of her illustration work to conveying her personal feeling for the mountains. She likes to draw landscapes and faces that tell stories.

Color is paramount for Clara, and traditional tools such as oil paint and pastels allow her to express herself fully.
