Photographer, writer, director, founder with Gilles Caron of the Gamma agency in 1966, Raymond Depardon (b. 1942) seems to have had a thousand lives. One of them was in the United States, where he returned several times throughout his career.
For magazines and for himself, he photographed key moments in history, as well as more contemplative landscapes emblematic of the American continent. “Depardon USA, 1968-1999” brings together all these photographs for the first time. Three decades of images to accompany the eponymous exhibition presented at this summer’s Rencontres d’Arles.
