Emilie Bredel has been devoting herself to her first passion, drawing, since 2012. The discovery of wire gave her the opportunity to broaden the artistic fields offered by drawing. This new tool will enable her to bring dozens of species to life and create “Faune en Fil” her airy, uncluttered bestiary. Each subject is first imagined and worked on in pencil, before being sculpted in wire. In the hands of this former textile designer, this cold material becomes almost a light, supple fabric thread, capable of embracing the artist’s will in its knots and curves. “Le Fil Versatile”, an exhibition inspired by birds and plants, will feature pieces from this collection, designed by hand in the artist’s Rouen studio. It will be on view from May 21 at Artazart.
