EXHIBITION – BACKTOTHESTREET – MAY 11 TO JUNE 23, 2020

Backtothestreet was born in late 2014 after artist Jean-Baptiste Pellerin saw “Faites le mur!”, the real fake Banksy documentary. It was at this point that the decision to paste his photos on city walls came to him as a matter of course: to give back to the street what he had taken from it.

Since then, thousands of photographs under glass have found their way onto the walls of Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Arles… as well as New York, London, Tokyo, Lisbon…

Since he began photography in 87, he has found his inspiration mainly in the street. At first in black and white, like his influences at the time, Doisneau or Robert Frank, then quickly in color, never to leave.

“Whether I’m on foot, bike or scooter, I scan the sidewalks looking for a subject. Anyone can interest me, but my subject needs a little something extra. A color, a form of clothing, an aura. Now it’s time to find a backdrop. And that’s the hard part. Without a background, even the most interesting subject won’t make a picture! After that, the subject does what he wants. I simply take care of the light. ”

Over a hundred photos will be on display!

On show from March 12 to April 26,
Extended until June 23!
