For Elise Lefebvre, it all began with years of bubbling ideas in the bath of applied arts.
The dabbling years gave way to two years of intertwining yarns, dye vats and colorful daubing at the Esaat school in Roubaix. By pure postal chance, or perhaps because she was born in Limoges, she ended up in the ceramics workshop at the Duperré school, among the columns of plaster molds and buckets of enamels concocted by the generations that preceded her there. She was delighted to discover a rich and fascinating technique.
To the white of the plaster and the browns of the earth, she mixes the colors and patterns of the fabrics left at the bottom of her pockets. With this particular blend, she has created a definite identity for herself.
Curiosity is a nice trait, and along the way she has met such unusual characters as Guy Eliche, model-moulder, Nestor Perkal, director of Le Craft, and Valéria Polsinelli, ceramist.
Since July 2004, settled in her own workshop, she has continued her research into tableware and jewelry.
Her collections, with their simple, uncluttered shapes, pile up for a while on the shelves and color the workshop with polka dots, stripes or floral motifs. These creations, which she produces in small batches, are then flown off to fairs, markets and boutiques.
