Gaspard de Lalune, born in Bordeaux in 1876, this son of scholars began his career as an artist in 1898, and is said to have participated in the DADA movement before the surrealist discord. An author and thinker, he is said to have produced over a thousand illuminated works and writings exuding a sublimated retro-future with a hint of joyful utopia. He offers an amused look at our society, like a lighthouse, his only weapon being the pen and art, plum’art*. He uses puns and deliberately absurd approximations to escape the gravity of life. Combining engravings and typography, his ambition was to revolutionize society’s way of thinking at the time. He panache with poetry, potty humor and incandescent aesthetics. Often with his head in the moon and eyebrow raised, he nevertheless keeps his feet on the ground, loves croissants and says “chocolatine”. He’s a man who fights for the best and for laughter. Not a drunken alcoholic, he enjoys the passing of time like an epicurean desperately seeking meaning in life, knowing full well that life has no meaning…Dive into the universe of Gaspard de Lalune and discover among the contemporary shooting stars, the retro-birth of a new star!
