Arùn is brown as coffee. Rey, on the other hand, is as blond as wheat. One is tall, the other short. They’re not friends, neighbors, cousins or mere pals: Arùn and Rey are brothers, despite what some might think. On the face of it, everything is against them, and nobody believes it. However, even if one observes while the other climbs, and one storms while the other whispers, they never fail to look out for each other. Is this what it means to be brothers?

Frères is a children’s album for ages 5 and up. Marie Le Cuziat’s gentle writing brings the brothers’ questioning to life, perfectly complemented by Hua Ling Xu’s strong, luminous illustrations.
