VÉNUS – où nous mènent les étreintes brings Linda Tuloup’s unsettling photographs into dialogue with a text on desire custom-written by Yannick Haenel (Prix Médicis 2017). Portraits of model Elisa Meliani – a friend of the author’s – mingle with free, intimate self-portraits, together evoking dreams, the turmoil of naked bodies and immemorial memories. Yannick Haenel’s text flows between these photographs, opening the gates to the garden of the goddesses and gods of love.

“At the moment of pleasure, a bird lights up behind your neck. Dove, turtle-dove, I don’t know. It doesn’t matter: the universe soars through a spasm that gives us wings. Everything returns and gives itself, and rushes forward: the smoke, the woods, the stars, the water in your teeth, the black dress, the silver dress, and your wolf covering you.
