More than a hundred days ago now, in March 2020, we suddenly realized that our fate depended only relatively on our decisions. It was linked not only to a dangerous virus circulating freely around the Earth, but also to emergency laws and contradictory exception decisions that could overnight affect our perfectly responsible intentions. Since then, we’ve been at the mercy of both, unable to truly plan our future…

Beginning on April 12, 2020, when more than 3 billion of the Earth’s citizens found themselves confined by their respective governments, this logbook retraces in the form of daily illustrations this historic moment while also questioning it. Each day, Ruedi Baur created one or more illustrations based on current events, discussions and feelings. These were then finalized by Odyssée Khorsandian and posted on social networks.

“Et soudain, le monde fut immobilisé”, a short encyclopedia of containment and deconfinement, published by Nouvelles éditions Place in September 2020.
