In a naïve, luminous and poetic style, Virginie Cognet populates her works with cats, birds and, above all, thousands of flowers. The etymology of this word seems to stick to her: Fleur. 12th century, flor. From Latin flos, floris ‘the best part of something’. Flamboyant bouquets or soothing gardens: the illustrator shows that flowers are perhaps the most beautiful creations on this earth.
With her cheerfully coloured gouache, she tirelessly captures them so that they can accompany us, too, in our everyday lives.
