Bernard Plossu is undoubtedly one of France’s greatest photographers, who has left his mark on so many photographic enthusiasts with his Mexican Journey and Andalusian Swallows, his black and white photographs with their subtle shades of grey, his Fresson prints…

At the end of the 1970s, he spent several years in Andalusia, near Almeria. With his wife Françoise Nuñez and their two children. “The most beautiful years of my life”, as he likes to say.

It is this happy period that this book recounts. Family moments, peaceful desert landscapes, scenes of life in the surrounding villages. Everything here exudes love, well-being and serenity.

It’s also an opportunity to show never-before-published images, in colour, black and white, panoramic, half-format… Bernard Plossu photographs as he lives, with great freedom. And it is precisely this freedom that this book aims to show. A book like a manifesto according to Bernard Plossu.
