SUNSET ON UKRAINE – Thierry Clech

Photographer and novelist Thierry Clech traveled across Ukraine in 2013, bringing back images of the last moments of peace.

“I criss-crossed Ukraine in August 2013, three months before the Maïdan protests, without of course suspecting that this would be the country’s last summer in its territorial integrity. The heat made the cities languid. The beaches of Odessa and Crimea were crowded with Russian and Ukrainian tourists. But behind the carefree summer mood, the first signs of the conflict to come were already visible.

I brought back 73 films, i.e. over 2,600 shots, to finally select the 76 photographs that make up this book.”
