SIGNING SESSION WITH JACQUES TERPANT “CE QU’IL RESTE DE NOUS” – THURSDAY 15 MAY AT 6PM

From his native Hostun, a small village in the Dauphiné, Jacques Terpant traces the history of French rural civilisation from the year 1000 – when this world took root – to its decline in the 20th century. Through six chronological stories inspired by his family history, he brings to life the major stages of this society: its elites, its bourgeoisie, its proletarians and above all its peasants, the beating heart of our world.

“Ce qu’il reste de nous” is the last album by comic artist Jacques Terpant, who decided to leave the scene at the age of 68. This is a testamentary album whose text and splendid illustrations have the nostalgic sweetness of “quiet disappearances”.

I know one thing for sure: if all those who came before me could have known that at the dawn of this century one of their descendants would be there, in the same place, doing the same things, raising the walls, tending the paths and fields, it would have filled them with joy…”.
