Gil Rigoulet began his career in the press in 1975, and in the early 1980s became the first regular photographer for the newspaper Le monde, with which he collaborated for over 20 years.
For three decades, he collaborated with numerous national and international press magazines, including Géo, Grands Reportages, Elle, Sunday Times, La Républica, La Stampa, El Pais, etc.
For him, who meddles in the lives of others, his images are sensitive to form: rockers with groomed locks, kisses of love, photographers on the prowl, the body and water …
In parallel, he develops a body of work as an author of Street Photography in Europe, North America and Asia… Crisscrossing the roads of the world, he produces Paysage en mouvement, photographs made from a car on the move, over a period of 25 years and exhibited under the title Carnet de voyage for Louis Vuitton at Le Bon Marché in Paris in 2004.
In the 90s and 2000s, Gil Rigoulet developed a body of work in Polaroid 665, black and white, around the legends and beliefs of certain trees, rocks and landscapes. The Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris is exhibiting his photos, as is the Musée du Montparnasse in February 2013.
The unique black & white photos of the Molitor swimming pool that Gil took in 1985 have permanently adorned the corridors of the new Molitor Swimming Pool Hotel since 2014.
Great friend of Artazart, Gil Rigoulet will be gracing the walls of the bookshop for the duration of an exhibition featuring two series: the first of street photography, and another “Pola Pool”, his most recent exclusively!
At the same time, he’ll be giving two talks in the neighborhood, as part of the Rencontres photographiques du 10e…
So, we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, October 23, for the opening of this superb exhibition, starting at 6pm on the banks of the canal!
