Like many children who grew up in the countryside, Niels Stoltenborg was amazed by plants, an inexhaustible source of fascination and surprise. He remembers telling his grandmother that he wanted to become a gardener…
He became a photographer, but his fascination with fruit and vegetables has never left him. Their colors and shapes have both the potential for abstraction and something to tell us. When he printed the first images in this series, he was surprised by the result: the subjects became similar to celestial bodies.
In Latin, consideror means “to look at the stars”: his images thus invite us to reconsiderthese everyday objects, to look at what they have to tell us.
See you Tuesday September 20 from 5pm for the opening of “Végétalisme”!
“Listen to the earth,
She breathes,
In space.”
